Naturally, the answer is, ‘It depends.’ We have
a patience cushion up to a tipping point, till then everything seems tolerable.
Reaching that tipping point and going beyond mean things will fall apart – at
least from the observer’s perspective.

And why does it depend? Well, because our desires have usually different utilities. Talking about short-utility items like the ice cream; there is no point to wait long for an ice cream unless you are having a diet. Nevertheless, you might wait for a couple of years to get a brand new car, or a decade to move into your ever-cherished home.
And what about the career?
If you are given 50,000 bucks instantly to spend
today, or you are allured to 100,000 bucks in a future tenure and without any
promise (you might get nothing), what’s the best choice at this deal?
Most will go for the cash, few will choose the
future option. For the latter ambitious people, there is another category. Few
will wait for a certain time, others will wait forever.
There comes the thin line between patience and
time waste.
Running after mirage vs. running after a dream.

However, digressing as always. I shall keep this
write-up unfinished because I am still searching for the answer as well.
Nb. Yesterday my business mentor had a
book-unwrapping seminar, where the critics literally bashed him for the book.
Being bashed by critics is normal in the ruthless academia and literature
field, but being bashed knowing that you haven’t written the book sucks (I guess,
not necessarily the truth).
