I have been having acute sore throat for the last three days. Yesterday, I stopped by a local food court and ordered a bowl of soup. There I saw something interesting, and alaring at the same time.
A little boy with traditional Islamic dress was having a noodles platter with me. His parents were sitting besides him, and what got me astonished was that they were not seeming to be practicing Muslims at all, but had some imposed ideology that is in practice imparing their thinking capabilities.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered with Islamic ideology (I'll explain in another blog why), neither do I care who chooses which lifestyle or cling to what school of thought. Rather, I am concerned about the inhouse braindrain that is slowpoisoning our educational ecosystem. Recently, Bangladesh has been ideologically radicalized with extremism and vandal propaganda, and ironically those are being brewed from a captive learning environment. I'd appreciate a Muslim community where a bunch of programmers or researchers are also believers, why contradict education with your spirituality?
And why did I get astonished seeing the boy's parents?
Well, they didn't seem to be educated at all. The woman (somewhere between 20-25 years old maybe) looked like a domestic worker or of the likely occupational category, and the man seemed to be a low wage earner (at least their conversation revealed so). I am quite sure that they are not sending their son to a religious academia out of religious belief. I might be wrong, but perhaps their level of understanding (world view) is forcing them to believe that there is minimal achievement possible in this life, and some extra terrestrial world is waiting for them with abundant reward - which is a relatively better choice to focus on.
I got that notion from their conversation.
Our society is consciously or subconsciously designed to exploit the lower class people by allowing them minimal resources ever possible. If that little boy is deprived from a quality education, someone's child in the future might get an added advantage, although holitcically our society is being rotten each and every day. Capitalism wins once again.
And as I've already said, there is nothing to worry about the future of humanity because of theological radicalism. The future of humanity will rather depend on a few people, who will reshape humankind by technological advancement. One Facebook will in practice control a billion fanatic mob, although some weak minority will be wiped away within the process.
Survival of the fittest! Nothing to do.
